When making these spalted Western maple danglers, I was thinking about the wave-weathered pieces of driftwood and pebbles that riddle the beaches here on the west coast. Each piece has a one-of-a-kind organic form, sculpted with care to emphasize the intricate spalting patterns on the wood. They’re finished with a clear water-based varnish.
